Kenyan Dough Bowl Candles & Wooden Wicks

Lethal Lites Dough Bowl Candle Care & Burning Tips

Kenyan Dough Bowls

Lethal Lites sources its bowls from Assorted African Gifts in Kenya. Each bowl is meticulously hand-carved, specifically for candle making, ensuring they are free of knots and holes. To enhance safety, the bowls are treated with a 100% natural fire retardant and are carefully sealed for durability and longevity.

Wood wick candles bring a unique touch to your candle experience, offering a soft, crackling sound as they burn—perfect for setting a cozy, relaxing mood.

As with any candle, proper care is essential for the best performance and safety.

Lighting Your Wood Wick Candle

Lethal Lites offers standard wood wicks and the unique "S" wick sourced from Italy (LeSolierShop- on Etsy).
We recommend using a BBQ lighter to ignite your wood-wick candle. Hold the flame at the base of the wick, where it meets the wax. It may take a few tries to ignite fully—just like starting a campfire!

Always light all wicks together for an even burn. Let the wax fully melt to the edges on the first burn (2–3 hours) to prevent tunnelling. If you are short on time, wait until you can burn it properly.

Maintaining Your Wood Wick

Once your candle has cooled, trim off the charred bits before relighting. This step is crucial—burnt wood won’t stay lit. Cleaning the remaining charcoal part of the wooden candle wicks after the first burning will positively affect the next combustion performance.
